What is wrong with attorney John DeGirolamo?

I met with attorney John DeGirolamo few months ago and I hired him as an attorney for my defense case. I did some research over the internet and found good rating on avvo.com about the attorney, so I decided to work with him. Initially things were going well but within few weeks of hiring the attorney, things started to change drastically. The kind of legal assistance and advice I was getting was something that an inexperienced attorney would offer. I was very shocked and in doubt if he is the same attorney with good reviews over the internet?

What's wrong with him? The advises were outright and with no legal expertise. I decided to change the attorney at the same time but I wasted a lot of time and money over his poor services.

Don’t go for the services of attorney Johnny G DeGirolamo. Do a proper cross check of skills before hiring your attorney. Don't just follow the online reviews blindly.

John G DeGirolamo: An attorney or a criminal ?

Johnny G. DeGirolamo, founder of The Law Offices Of John DeGirolamo, Esq., uses the tagline “In Law We Trust.”.  As per the official site of the attorney, John DeGirolamo practices in the State and Federal Courts of Florida. John has experience handling high-profile cases in both the criminal and civil areas of law. The focus of his practice is in the areas of criminal defense, corporate litigation, as well as family law matters.

This is all what his website boasts about the attorney but this is not TRUE !!

For me, Johnny G. DeGirolamo is criminal rather than an attorney. The attorney himself had a very tough time maintaining law.

His affinity for criminal law during college and law school is well-documented. His arrests and/or cases include these in Hillsborough County, Florida:

  • 12/8/02 – Battery
  • 12/10/02 – Criminal Mischief $200 or Less
  • 9/8/04 – Obstructing an Officer, Theft
  • 1/27/06 – Ran Stop Sign
  • 3/26/08 – Possession of Open Container
There is a long list of such criminal activities committed by the attorney in the past but the most interesting case is  the felony theft in November 2008. Attorney was nearing his 2009 graduation from law school when this incident happened. He had adjudication withheld on 3/16/09, and was sentenced to 2 days in jail (time served), 12 months of probation,  50 hours of community service, and completion of an”Impulse Control Seminar.” On 4/28/09 the final disposition was modified to show that DiGirolamo was eligible for early termination of probation after 6 months if all other terms and conditions were completed and he had no violations. On 11/09/09, probation was terminated.
At some point, the record was changed to reflect 2 misdemeanor counts of theft, rather than 2 felony counts.

For me,  Johnny G. DeGirolamo is a criminal not an attorney. Don't trust him. He is good for nothing. Just avoid him

Yelp Review about the attorney

One of the worst attorney I’ve ever worked with. I hired Mr. John DeGirolamo for legal assistance for my business. It turned out to be the worst professional decision. His advice on business matters was terrible. Working with him was often annoying and uncomfortable. Turns out, the guy has no real understanding or experience with corporate law, he’s an insurance attorney. I would never... NEVER advise anyone to work with John DeGirolamo.
Not only for his lack of expertise and maturity, but also his attitude. In short, the advice I got was BAD and I ended up losing money and time. I had to change my counsel and undergo the whole process again.

Johnny G DeGirolamo: Not so good for corporate matters

Last year, We  hired attorney Johnny G DeGirolamo and his law firm ‘The Law Offices Of John DeGirolamo, Esq’ for a criminal defense case. After having a long meeting with attorney Johnny DeGirolamo about our case, we were quite sold. Satisfied, we felt that the case was now in the right hands. John said that he will follow an aggressive approach for our case and we were convinced of his approach but it caused more problems for us than it solved.

Legally, we ended up in a bad situation following bad and immature counsel given by Johnny G DeGirolamo. Who we now know, hasn't got enough experience to handle serious corporate matters. We were puzzled with the kind of assistance and advice we we were receiving from him about everything. Hiring him, caused us a lot more damage than we were initially facing. We immediately stopped taking his services and switched to another attorney. He has no real experience in corporate law. He is merely an insurance lawyer.

Highly disappointed with the kind of services we received. We would never recommend him to anyone.
I found so many blogs over the internet that actually describes the truth about him. Just search on google with his name or just look for his reviews on sites like Yelp and Sitejabber, you'll find everything crystal clear.

John G DeGirolamo: Hire him only if want some unnecessary headache

Working with an experienced and skilled attorney is like generating more profit for your firm. A good attorney is vital for any business and a lot depends on his legal assistance. I hired John G DeGirolamo for my firm but this is something I still regret about. His advice is terrible. Often he produced some irrelevant and unlawful advice. We lost a couple of clients because of his bad advice. He is an incompetent  attorney with no relevant skills. Don’t hire him if you don’t want any unnecessary headache.

Is Johnny G DeGirolamo competent enough to handle corporate and defense issues?

If you've been following up on my blogs, you'll know that we hired attorney, Johnny G DeGirolamo and his law firm recently and our affairs left us with more harm than we started with. Not really the highlights of my professional decision-making. I am not the only one to find that out, I figured once I started looking at the web for those who've had similar experience with him. Most of the reviews agree that Johnny G DeGirolamo is not competent enough to handle complex corporate and defense issues. I wonder if he has the right attitude to handle them. Many times he provided an outright irrelevant advice.

We had a very tough time working with him. There was lack of communication. He never pays attention to small and supportive points of your case and would deliver irrelevant advice, and often come up with juvenile suggestions, which shows his level of expertise and his lack of relevant experience in corporate and business matters. The more I think about our time with him the more I want to bang my head on the wall for making such an uninformed choice. I see that we're not the only ones who faced these issues with this firm, there are quite a few blogs on the web that have done better research than we did before hiring him.

About attorney Johnny DeGirolamo and his law firm

Simply not an aggressive and effective attorney at all. I hired him after watching some good reviews about him on avvo.com but it was the biggest mistake of my life. I was shocked reading the positive reviews on the site. He can’t be the same Johnny G DeGirolamo I hired.

I’m not sure about his knowledge and skills because I would never even got my questions answered. I found him nothing more than an insurance attorney rather than a real aggressive corporate attorney.
There was a big lack of communication from him unless it was concerning paying him. We wasted our time and money by hiring him as our attorney. I feel like cheated when I think about my decision of hiring. Don't follow online reviews on sites like avvo.com blindly.

Do you proper own research and spend enough time before hiring an attorney.

A bad experience with attorney Johnny DeGirolamo

We hired Johnny G DeGirolamo as our attorney for our case but it turned out to be a blunder made by us. The kind of advice provided by him was very immature which showed his real level of legal expertise. Many times he doesn't even know what he is talking about, he often gave us irrelevant and bad advice. There was a big lack of  communication. Our time and money both wasted on his immaturity.

Do your research before hiring an attorney. A bad decision like Johnny could cost you a lot more than just money and time. This “lawyer” himself has a hard time keeping up with law itself. We had a very tough time while working with him. He would never pay attention to small and supportive points of your case.Hire him only if you want a free trouble.

Johnny G DeGirolamo: A real attorney or just an insurance guy with no corporate experience?

Last year we hired Johnny G DeGirolamo and his law firm ‘The law offices of John DeGirolamo, Esq.’ for a criminal defense case. We had a long discussion with Mr. DeGirolamo about our matter and he said, "We’ll follow an aggressive approach to handle your situation and we agreed with his statement but this so called approach made things worse and did the damage for us.

We become so weak in our case and all just because of the bad advice of attorney Johnny G DeGirolamo who hasn't got enough experience to handle defense and corporate matters. We had to stop taking his service immediately and were puzzled with the kind of assistance and advice we received. He is not a real attorney, he is just an Insurance guy.

Do your research and check reviews if you’re looking for a good attorney

My unpleasant experience with attorney Johnny DeGirolamo and his law firm

Johnny G DeGirolamo is a Florida based attorney who fancies himself as an aggressive and experienced attorney, my experience with him strongly disagrees.
Johnny G DeGirolamo is completely different to what he claims about himself. He is certainly nothing more than an insurance lawyer. His legal advice is terrible and he has no legal experience. I ended up wasting my money and time on his services.
I doubt about his legal skills as well, he often offered some irrelevant suggestions for your legal concerns. I had a very unpleasant experience with Johnny G DeGirolamo. Do make a proper cross check before hiring an attorney.

In Law We Trust Review

John DeGirolamo, The founder of the the law offices of John DeGirolamo, Esq. believes there is no issue too complicated for a jury or panel to understand but I believe they make every simple issue too complected and make things go out of our way. Yes this is what they actually do. The firm says "We will use its aggressive style of practice and preparation to make sure our client's needs are met." right they use a aggressive style but it only harm your reputation and would lessen your chances of winning your case. What a great style they follow !!

Having spent two years at the firm, it became quite clear to John that he missed the criminal law that he spent his college and law school careers studying.
His relationship for criminal law during college and law school is well-documented. His arrests and/or cases include these in Hillsborough County, Florida:

  • 12/8/02 – Battery
  • 12/10/02 – Criminal Mischief $200 or Less
  • 9/8/04 – Obstructing an Officer, Theft ($100 or less)
  • 1/27/06 – Ran Stop Sign
  • 3/26/08 – Possession of Open Container

In Miami-Dade County, Johnny G. DeGirolamo had the following:
  • 11/5/06 – Disorderly Intoxication, Trespassing After Warning

And in Orange County, John DeGirolamo got the following:
  • 11/3/08 – Petit Theft (Criminal Felony)
  • 10/19/06 – Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device
The most interesting of the above cases is the felony theft in November 2008. Johnny was about to complete his graduation in 2009 from law school when this disastrous incident took place.

He had assessment withheld on 3/16/09, and was sentenced to 2 days in jail , 12 months of probation,  50 hours of community service, and completion of an”Impulse Control Seminar.”. The final effort was updated On 4/28/09  to show that DiGirolamo was eligible for early termination of probation after 6 months if all other terms and conditions were completed and he had no violations.

The probation was terminated On 11/09/09.  The record was changed to reflect 2 violation counts of theft, rather than 2 felony counts at some point of the time..
It is also interesting that DeGirolamo calls himself an “associate attorney” at Butler & Hosch from 2009 to 2011, but wasn't actually admitted to the Florida Bar until 5/27/11.
